Workflow

Feedback:

Enjoyed hearing what the others were doing in their schools following last weeks DFI course.  Very positive and encouraging me to try more of the applications discussed.  Others in a similar boat re; If you don't use it you lose it! That is me!  Hence taken to writing in a notebook.

Google Meet:

Functions that I have used: remote meetings, video calling, screen sharing, and record our meetings. Gosh I didn't realise I had done this, obviously during lockdown.

How to get into google meet: calendar, gmail, and hyperlink - me, usually through gmail, if invited, or calendar. (Using gmail at the moment for staff meetings from home after DFI course) Nice to revisit this as most forgotten as I haven't used since last year in lockdown.  Had to get a staff member to email an invite for last weeks staff meeting.  (This will not be used by me in class as I am with 'The Nest', so very new new entrants!)

Learn Create Share provides a common language.  The simpler it is the more inclusive it is.

Good practice should still be recognisable in any learning environment.

How often to do we hear/think/say - Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater! How true.

Expecting accelerated results without effective teaching is a disaster waiting to happen!

Learn: recognised effective practice. what are teachers doing that we can see in our classrooms that makes effective practice. (What does Learn look like at SHS?)
Use the acronym RATE: recognise, amplify, turbocharge = effective practice.

Vicki Archer:
              App - Google Keep
Works across platforms - I love this idea - downloaded app and played.  It appears far more useful/versatile that the note icon on the laptop.  Vicki talked about how easy it is.  Looking forward to playing with this!

Chalk and Talk  Gmail slides
Key settings - Archive: doesn't delete just puts it away, you can still search for it.
Labels: can organise  into groups - works like a folder.
Filter: automate your emails - they go direct to folder. means they don't clog up inbox.
Starring: star emails as important to come back to later, you can colour code.
Conversation view - group conversations together

It is flexible and can me made to the way I work!

Attach;  Confidential Mode, it means recipients won't have the option to forward, copy, print or share. Scheduling emails: we do this, even on Hero.
Google Translate; don't do into Te Reo. it is not a completely accurate. (you will get the gist of the message but possibly not all)
Advanced options; you can set up templates for frequent users.

Spent time  playing.

Google Calendar:
Can access on laptop or phone.
Settings on who can see MY calendar?
Didn't realise what a great help this could be with day to day 'stuff' that is easily accessible.
10 minutes play time.

Taming my tabs:
I will need time to play with this.  Lots of information here but,...........

Meet Recordings:
Gosh this was a bit of a mission......

  3. Deb, you are a legend. Firstly, I would like to thank you for teaching me not only how to spell 'voila' (pronounced )Walaa, but also its origin. Did not know it came from France. Your patience with computers seems to be growing. The detail on your blog is extremely thorough. It is like walking into Pak'n'Save and the shelves are fully stocked. Very impressive.
